This is my meager collection of art related to this book. Seems like all I did for the first year was draw, doodle and sketch stuff. Strange thing is I have yet to find a telling sketch of John, but I’ll keep digging around. Girls are more fun to draw and look at any ways. Derndest thing is that I can’t find any of the sketches of the cars that aren’t the Hellstreet Special. I had some of both the Valiant and the Trans Am, but alas they are thus far missing. Enjoy and check back every now and then for more stuff as I dig it out of the archives (aka, my old backpack).

I have only found these two sketches of Amy. She very much digs the rockabilly/punk thing, as seen here. The top one is the very first sketch I ever did of the character, and very telling. The bottom one isn’t that great, and really cliché, but it’s her all over. Forgive the low quality of this one, it was in the margin of a note book from a long time ago.

I have thrown out nearly every picture of her I have ever drawn. I wanted readers to envision her for them selves. This picture really captures her ability to get mad in a hurry. It was in the middle of a bunch of character and expression tests I was doing, so it’s also pretty small.

I finally found it. It doesn’t look as good as I remembered it, but oh well. I apologize for its rough state. It’s pretty smudged form being filed away in a folder full of random other stuff. I really don’t feel like messing with photo shop, so you get to see what it my art looks like pre touch-up.

This one turned up while doodling; I just started sketching and make a picture of John that I like. It's not perfect, but it betrays the Hardy Boys inspiration that brought him along.
Sam Gooding and his Trusty Toyota

I stumbled across this little sketch in a corner of a note book full of hot rods and muscle cars. It’s not exactly how I envision him, but I thought I’d share it with you all. I’m not sure if the truck in the book has those stripes or not.

The old gasser. The one that says “Dragomir” down the side is the very first ’55 Chevy I ever bothered to draw. I apologize for its cartoonishly huge tires. The lower one is a test page from a graphic novel I may or may not finish. I hope I get the practice and the time to get it done. I have a hard time varying facial expressions while the mouth is open when I draw. I must admit that I haven’t done much with art in the last year, so I am out of practice. I decided to give you a bigger copy of the car, too.

Also, I have put together some bonuses for those you who like to redecorate your computer's desktop. Three are screenshots of the Hellstreet Special model I made/modified/hacked toegether.
A few others are screen caps of the Dragomir Manor house.
But the part I am proudest of is the Hellstreet Special artwork. I drew is out on paper, dropped the sketch into MS paint to ink, dropped that into Photoshop several times and at last, with the help of some googling, got the look I wanted out of it. I think it really looks like the Gasser art of the 60'S.
